Play Workshops
Staging one of my plays? My online workshops give a unique insight on its characters, story, setting and development. Offering hints, hacks and artistic solutions for staging in amateur and small-scale theatre, the workshops draw on original research material and discussion on any aspect of the play you require. Writing Workshops
With 30 years’ experience delivering playwriting workshops in theatres and schools, I now offer accessible online workshops which set the building blocks of writing for theatre: the world of the play, place and time, character and relationships, dialogue. Through writing exercises, discussion and insights on my own writing process, I aim to empower participants to find your own voice as a dramatist. Email me on the link below for details.
Dramaturgy
I’ve been a dramaturg and mentor for many playwrights throughout my career. It’s a role I love and I’m always open to opportunities to give support, advice and artistic feedback to emerging and established artists. I don’t choose to work with individual playwrights on a fee-paying basis but I can support funding bids for artistic development. I work in this capacity for theatres companies too. Academic
I gained a PhD by Publication in 2019 and my thesis Bad Girls and Blonde Bombshells: Lived Feminisms in Popular Theatre is available on request. As a Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow, I provided academic support at Nottingham Trent University and Leicester De Montfort. I’ve also taught undergraduate Creative Writing and Scriptwriting for the University of Huddersfield. Email me on the link below for details.
