Plays, Productions and Updates

Three of Amanda’s plays take their place in Nick Hern Book’s Top Ten Most Performed Plays of 2018.  Ladies Day (3rd), The Thrill of Love (5th) and Be My Baby (9th) confirm Amanda as one of the most popular and widely-staged playwrights in the UK.  She sends a big thank you to NHB and to all the companies who’ve licensed the plays in the last year.

Kiss Me Quickstep is now in rehearsal at the Queens Theatre Hornchurch in an exciting co-production with New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich.  Directed by Kirstie Davis, the first revival of this ballroom blitz opens at the Queens Theatre on February 22nd, then tours to the New Wolsey and Theatre Clywd.  Full casting announced here.

Be My Baby will be produced by Leeds Playhouse from May 11th – June 1st, 2019.

January brings The Thrill of Love to Ilkley Playhouse (17th-26th) and CHADS Theatre in Cheadle Hulme (25th-2nd).  Nailsea Little Theatre stages the Ruth Ellis story in February (4th-9th), as does Tower Theatre in their new venue in Stoke Newington, London, (13th-23rd).

In February, Ladies Day is under starters orders at Green Room Theatre, Wilmslow, (9th-16th) and Manifest Theatre Group in Manningtree (19th-23rd). Ladies Down Under is produced by Wigan Little Theatre (27th-9th March).



Amanda Whittington has been appointed one of four new Artistic Associates at Nottingham Playhouse.  With playwrights James Graham and Sarah Rain, and director Matthew Xia, Amanda will be working to support the creative vision of Artist Director, Adam Penford.
