Amanda Whittington is a dramatist who has written over 30 plays for UK theatre and radio.

Amanda’s new play Mighty Atoms opens at Hull Truck in June 2017 as part of Hull 2017 City of Culture.   

She currently has three titles in Nick Hern Books’ Top Ten Most Performed Plays, with The Thrill of Love at Number One.  Her work is widely performed by companies across the UK, with recent productions at Oldham Coliseum, New Vic Theatre and Nottingham Playhouse.  Be My Baby is a popular GCSE and ‘A’ level choice in English Literature and Theatre Studies.

In 2016, Amanda’s radio drama D for Dexter won Best Series/Serial in the BBC Audio Drama Awards.  She is co-chair of the Writer’s Guild Radio Committee and is studying for a PhD by Publication with the University of Huddersfield.  She began her writing career as a freelance journalist for titles including Nottingham Evening Post, New Statesman and Society and The Face.
